  • Support for people with dementia and their care partners

VISION

A world in which all people among us with dementia receive access to information in addition to high quality, gentle care that supports their ability to participate in meaningful, joy-filled relationships and activities.

A world in which all care partners feel supported and empowered to deliver high quality, gentle care for their self and others.

VALUES

Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism, & Inclusion

We warmly welcome people who have differences in sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, age, physical ability, cognitive ability, socioeconomic status, education, and national origin.

We believe in fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people. In addition to becoming informed about America’s history of systemic racism, becoming informed about our own implicit biases, becoming informed about health disparities, and becoming informed about the impact of racism in dementia care, we promise to engage in sustainable anti-racist efforts that promote meaningful change.

We support dementia inclusive initiatives and program development within businesses and communities.

We strive to get curious about, learn from, and respect the perspectives and life experiences of others.  If a perspective, action, or statement harms another person or denies a human of their rights, we will speak up.

Education

We never stop learning. We use evidence-based resources in combination with clinical and personal experience to disseminate reputable, accurate, and accessible information.

If we are wrong about something, please correct us and we will try our best to understand more accurately.

Integrity

We are open, honest, ethical, and fair.

Passion

We are committed in mind and heart. We love the work we do!

Quality of Life

We advocate for highest-quality senior care that is rooted in dignity, respect, and love. We support engagement in meaningful, sensory-rich, and joy-filled activities across the lifespan.

PROCESS

1. Understand

What is dementia? What is sensory? Learn about factors that influence experience and behavior, including dementia-related brain changes, environmental inputs, and a person’s unique sensory profile.

2. Connect

Create trust and build positive rapport using emotional and sensory regulating strategies for successful interaction. Learn how to intentionally approach people so they feel safe, welcome, and cared for.

3. Engage

Do the things that bring value to life. Create accessible opportunities to engage in meaningful, sensory-rich activities. Optimize health, well-being, and participation in life.
